Socceroos abroad: Wright's Cup win, Jedinak injury

With the Socceroos playing in Perth on September 3, a number of players had game time overnight in the Capital One Cup in England plus UEFA Champions League qualifiers, but one concern is skipper Mile Jedinak.

The Aussie captain started for Crystal Palace at home to lowly Shrewsbury Town in the Capital One Cup but was withdrawn due to a reported hamstring problem just after the break.

With the scores level at 1-1, Alan Pardew's men needed extra-time to run out 4-1 winners.

Adam Federici also had 90 minutes between the sticks for Bournemouth in the Cup, who won 4-0 at Hartlepool United.

And in great news current Socceroo Bailey Wright and fellow Aussie Neil Kilkenny both played a full game as Preston North End upset EPL side Watford 1-0 at home also in the Capital One Cup.

Attacking midfielder Massimo Luongo came on in the 74th minute but couldn't prevent Queens Park Rangers from suffering a 2-1 loss at home to Carlisle United in the  Capital One Cup.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Mark Schwarzer played a full match for Leicester City as they defeated Bury 4-1 away from home in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

Maty Ryan's Valencia withstood Monaco's late charge to book a spot in the UEFA Champions League group stage after losing 2-1 to the Ligue 1 side in France. Ryan played a full game.

Tom Rogic was a non-playing sub as Celtic exited the UCL qualifiers after losing 2-0 to Malmo.
