Swindon Town manager Mark Cooper has backed Socceroos midfielder Massimo Luongo to become a regular in the Premier League.
Luongo was arguably the brightest story to come out of Australia's two friendlies over the past fortnight against Belgium and Saudi Arabia, making his maiden Socceroos start against the latter in a 3-2 victory.
Having previously claimed the queue to sign Luongo was getting longer following the 21-year-old's exploits in green and gold, Cooper told the Swindon Advertiser on Saturday that he expects the Sydney-born midfielder to make the grade in the Premier League one day.
"I think he can go as far as he wants. He can run, he can play, he can tackle, he can head, he can score, so he's got everything," Swindon's boss said.
"If he keeps putting it all together he can play where he wants, he can certainly play at the top level for me.
"When I watch midfield players he can certainly compete with the ones in the Premier League."
Luongo played the full game for Swindon as they defeated Bradford City 2-1 to move sixth in League One, while his compatriot Brad Smith returned from his Australian debut against Belgium to play 89 minutes.
Swindon has been Luongo's base for the past two-and-a-bit seasons with the dynamic midfield man first joining the League One club on loan from Tottenham in 2013 before signing permanently before the 2013-14 campaign.
In his time at Tottenham, Luongo regularly received decent reviews from the myriad of managers at White Hart Lane but only made one senior appearance.
