Qantas Socceroo defender Tony Popovic has agreed a new two-year deal with Crystal Palace, skysports.com has revealed.
Popovic (pictured right), a regular at the heart of the Palace and Australian defences, was rewarded with a new deal after helping Palace back into the Premiership.
Palace won its place back in the Premiership after a play-off win over West Ham United, with the 31-year-old earning praise for his defensive performances throughout the campaign.
"Tony has agreed a new two-year deal," his agent Craig Nettelbeck explained to skysports.com.
"He is delighted to have pledged his future to Palace.
"We are still waiting to hear on the work-permit and you can never be certain on that, but we are very hopeful."
Popovic and Palace are now sweating on his renewed work-permit application, as he has not met the work-permit criteria, although Palace-s play-off commitments meant he was unavailable for quite a number of recent international fixtures played in Australia.
He is now waiting on the independent appeals panel, who decide whether a player should be allowed to play in England after failing to meet The Home Office's criteria.
