Injury blow for Socceroo Langerak

Socceroo Mitch Langerak has been dealt a blow at the start of his Vfb Stuttgart career, suffering an injury in pre-season training.

In a blow to his hopes of becoming his new club’s number one gloveman, Langerak suffered a right thigh injury during their training camp in Zillertal on Sunday (AEST).

The 26-year-old, who moved to Stuttgart from Borussia Dortmund this summer, was forced to sit-out their 6-3 friendly win over Viktoria Plzen.

The extent of the injury is still unknown but it’s the last thing Langerak would have wanted as he battles Polish goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton for the starting spot for the new Bundesliga season.

There have been reports he has sprained the posterior compartment of his right thigh, which is normally a three-week injury.

Stuttgart will play another pre-season fixture this weekend against Swiss club Young Boys.
