Huddersfield’s Socceroos play against Liverpool in friendly

Caltex Socceroos Aaron Mooy and Jason Davidson played for Huddersfield Town against Liverpool in a friendly overnight with the EPL club winning 2-0.

An electric crowd of over 21,000 fans at John Smith Stadium in Huddersfield saw Mooy in his number 10 shirt play the first half for David Wagner’s side before wholesale changes were made in the second half.

Socceroo and Asian Cup winner Davidson played in the second 45 minutes in a game dubbed the Shankly Trophy.

Liverpool’s goals came from Marko Grujic and the man Socceroo defender Brad Smith is trying to displace, Alberto Moreno.

Smith wasn’t in the Reds squad for this game.

Mooy is on loan from EPL powerhouse Manchester City, who recently signed him last from Hyundai A-League sister club Melbourne City.
