Giannou scored the second goal in Guangzhou R&F’s 2-0 win over Henan Jianye, firing a powerful low drive from the edge of the area in the 67th minute, leaving the keeper with no chance.
The 26-year-old picked the ball up on the top of the box showing great feet to beat two defenders before lashing the ball home into the bottom left corner.
Elsewhere, Matt Spiranovic ‘s Hangzhou Greentown upset Trent Sainsbury’s Jiangsu Suning 3-0 at Yellow Dragon Sports Center, with both getting through 90 minutes for their respective clubs.
In a shock result, 14th-placed Hangzhou dominated proceedings with Anselmo Ramon firing a double either side of half-time before Cheng Mouyi netted late to secure the comprehensive victory.
