Caltex Socceroos left-back Brad Smith could become the first Australian to win the Europa League on Wednesday if Liverpool overcome reigning champions Sevilla in Basel.
Smith is in Switzerland for the Europa League Final and will almost certainly start on the bench as cover for Alberto Moreno, and Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp could turn to the 22-year-old Aussie if he needs some pace late in the match.
Either way, if Smith makes the match-day squad and Liverpool lift the trophy, he will be the first Australian to win a Europa League medal.

It would be a brilliant finale to a breakthrough season for Smith, who looked set to leave Anfield earlier in the campaign only to sign a new contract in November.
Klopp brought Smith back into the fold and the speedster hasn't looked back.
The Penrith-born full-back made his maiden Premier League start in April, while he scored his first senior goal for Liverpool in January to salvage a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup versus Exeter City.
Smith was named the Liverpool Academy's Players' Player of the Year earlier this month.
If Smith tastes success at St. Jakob-Park, he will triumph where Mark Schwarzer, Mark Viduka and Ned Zelic have failed before him.
Schwarzer has twice reached the pinnacle of Europe's second-tier continental competition only to lose.
In 2010, Schwarzer played 120 minutes for Fulham against Atletico Madrid as Diego Forlan struck an extra-time winner for the Spanish club.
Four years earlier and Schwarzer was again in goals - this time for Middlesbrough - while Mark Viduka started up front for Steve McClaren's side as they lost 4-0 to Sevilla.
Brad Jones was on the bench for Middlesbrough as well.

In 2001-02, Emerton was critical in Feyenoord's run to the UEFA Cup title but was suspended for the final, meaning he didn't win a medal.
Emerton played 42 games for Feyenoord in all competitions that season, including nine in the UEFA Cup, so if available he certainly would have played in the Dutch club's 3-2 triumph over Dortmund.
