Aussies take centre stage in FA Cup

The draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup has been finalised with some titanic clashes set to decide the quarter-finalists in England’s Cup competition.

Socceroos skipper Mile Jedinak, goalkeeper Adam Federici and defender Brad Smith are all likely to feature – assuming the Reds can get past West Ham in their fourth round replay.

Crystal Palace have been handed a tough assignment with Jedinak’s side set to face the high-flying Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

The defensive midfielder has come off the bench in Palace’s wins over Southampton and Stoke City, having fallen down the first-team pecking order this season.

Spurs will be a different proposition however, especially considering they deposed of Alan Pardew’s side 3-1 at Selhurst Park in their last league outing.

Bournemouth will host Everton at Dean Court in their fifth round tie, with Federici likely to be retained in goals.

The 31-year-old has featured in both his side’s matches to date as they’ve progressed courtesy of 2-1 road wins against Birmingham City and Portsmouth.

Liverpool’s fate will be determined by their replay with West Ham at Upton Park on 9 February after the sides played out a goalless stalemate at Anfield on the weekend.

Smith played the full match and put in another assured Cup performance at left-back as manager Jurgen Klopp chose to blood a number of his youngsters.

Having helped his side into the League Cup final, Smith will be hopeful he can help the Reds past the Hammers, with the winners to face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
